Data Storage Ranks 1st Among 21 Tech Issues

SCRI conducted a comprehensive survey of broadcast, pro video and digital content users and tracked the relative importance, to end-users, of over 20 technology issues. Results show that Data Storage is the number one issue facing video pros in this space. The five most important technology issues, across the board, ranked in order of importance are: Data Storage, File-Based Workflows, Archival of Digital Files; Digital File Transfer and Video Compression. The next most important group includes: Color Management & Integrity; Onsite Storage; Data Security; Distributing Digital Content via New Emerging Channels & Faster Frame Rates.

ChyronHego Q1 losses increase in spite of increased revenues

ChyronHego losses increased for Q1 2014 in spite of increased revenues (mainly due to merger with Hego) and cost cutting measures. WhIle Q1 2014 revenues increased 57% to $12.6 million compared to $8.0 million in Q1 2013, the company showed an operating loss in Q1 2014 of $3.1 million compared to operating loss in Q1 2013 of $0.8 million; Q1 Net loss was $3.2 million in Q1 2014, as compared to a net loss of $0.9 million in Q1 2013;

Online digital content creation has become the primary output among broadcast & pro video and digital content producers, according to the Production/Post  in the Cloud Report by SCRI among subscribers to Broadcast Beat, Broadcast Equipment Guide, Professional AV (ProAV) Buyers Guide and Post Production Buyers Guide.   Online content leads with 52% of users, followed by Television (45%), Industrials (40%), documentaries (38%) and special event content (35%) rounding out the top five.
