Chyron Gets NASDAQ Delisting Notice

On November 7, 2012, the Nasdaq Stock Market (“NASDAQ”) notified Chyron Corporation that it no longer complies with NASDAQ Listing Rule 5450(a)(1) (the “Minimum Bid Price Rule”), as the bid price of the Company’s common stock closed below the minimum $1.00 per share for the 30 consecutive business days prior to the date of the letter.

Apple Reports Record Q4 Revenue and Profit

Apple announced financial results for its fiscal 2012 fourth quarter ended September 29, 2012.   The Company posted quarterly revenue of $36.0 billion and quarterly net profit of $8.2 billion, or $8.67 per diluted share. These results compare to revenue of $28.3 billion and net profit of $6.6 billion, or $7.05 per diluted share, in the year-ago quarter. Gross margin was 40.0 percent compared to 40.3 percent in the year-ago quarter. International sales accounted for 60 percent of the quarter’s revenue. […]

Sony Posts $198 million Q2 loss

Sony has posted a loss of $198 million on revenue of $20.5 billion for its fiscal second quarter, marking an improvement over the $350 million loss it reported in the same period last year and $312 million loss in the first quarter. While that may be a sign that its ongoing restructuring is having a positive effect, the ailing outfit still disappointed analysts polled by Reuters who expected a net profit of approximately $194 million.

Panasonic Big Losses & Staff Cuts

Panasonic has reduced its workforce by about 11% in the past year, cutting nearly 39,000 positions, yet it still forecasts a Y780bn ($10.2bn) full-year loss, the largest in its 94-year history. Analysts and investors expect the beleaguered company will have to cut more jobs. “They have to cut, cut, cut. They’re not doing it fast enough,” said Edwin Merner of Atlantis Investment Research, according to a Bloomberg report.
