Camcorders continue to be a prominent player in the video/television production landscape. All six vertical markets will register an increase in overall market value for the three-year period surveyed.  This according to the newly released 2012-2013 Broadcast / Pro Video Camcorder Report from SCRI International.
Manufacturers have definitely been making some significant changes in the camcorder market in response to both professional and high-end consumer demands. Lower-price points, portability and HD/3D features have been dominant in the marketplace as marketers battle it out to maintain their brand share. Camcorders are still one of the prominent products on the professional video market today, with fierce competition among all manufacturing sectors. New technologies abound, as engineers grapple to provide the latest technologies to satisfy all production sectors. This includes both traditional and virtual economies and distribution channels for broadcasters, cablers and production houses. Formatting wars continue with the rise and fall of many giants and the slow race to the top by some unlikely candidates. The full report is available is available now from SCRI International — contact SCRI Research Director Desmond Chaskelson (des_chas@scri.com) or info@scri.com for more information.
