New 2012 Broadcast / Pro Video Product Sales, Brand Share Reports

Survey data from thousands of broadcasters and pro video end-users are currently being tabulated for the 2012-2013 Broadcast / Professional Video Marketplace (B/PVM) Reports series.

Early data shows key trends emerging in some of the product categories like the impact of Apple’s Final Cut Pro X on the NLE market for example.

The survey tracks the impact of technology trends on specific product categories. These trends include: multi-platform content delivery & distribution; the migration to file-based operations & systems; the move to IT-based operations and concomitant predicted increase in software sales; the continued transition to HDTV operations; as well as the impact of the stalled growth of the economy. All of these trends impact sales of specific product categories and SCRI’s annual B/PVM survey-based reports inform manufacturers of product sales (past, current and future) by specific vertical user market, as well as providing brand shares and competitive analysis for each product category.

Thoma Bravo to Acquire Telestream

Private equity investment firm Thoma Bravo, LLC has entered into a definitive agreement to purchase Telestream, Inc. The transaction will facilitate further growth of Telestream’s core businesses in addition to providing additional capital for further market expansion and acquisition.

Adobe Reports 14% Year-Over-Year Revenue Growth

Adobe Systems Incorporated (Nasdaq:ADBE) reported financial results for its fourth quarter and fiscal year ended Dec. 2, 2011.

  • Revenue was $1.152 billion, which exceeded the company’s target range of $1.075 billion to $1.125 billion, and represents 14 percent year-over-year revenue growth.
  • Diluted earnings per share were $0.35 on a GAAP-basis, and $0.67 on a non-GAAP basis.
  • Operating income was $246.1 million, operating margin was 21.4 percent and net income was $173.7 million on a GAAP-basis.  Operating income was $444.5 million, operating margin was 38.6 percent and net income was $332.6 million on a non-GAAP basis.
  • Deferred revenue grew by $47.6 million to $531.7 million.
  • Cash flow from operations was $496.8 million.

Evertz Technologies Reports Drop in Revenue

Evertz Technologies Limited, an equipment provider to the television broadcast industry, reported its results for the second quarter ended October 31, 2011, of its fiscal 2012 year.

For the quarter ended October 31, 2011, revenues were $70.5 million as compared to revenues of $82.3 million for the quarter ended October 31, 2010. For the quarter, revenues in the United States/Canada region were $35.9 million. The International region had revenues of $34.6 million.

Ross Video Up 47%

Autodesk Q3 Revenue Up 15%

EMEA revenue was $202 million, an increase of 10 percent compared to the third quarter last year as reported and 8 percent on a constant currency basis. Revenue in the Americas was $200 million, an increase of 12 percent compared to the third quarter last year. Revenue in Asia Pacific was $146 million, an increase of 28 percent compared to the third quarter last year as reported and 19 percent on a constant currency basis. Revenue from emerging economies was $87 million, an increase of 15 percent compared to the third quarter last year as reported and 11 percent on a constant currency basis. Revenue from emerging economies represented 16 percent of total revenue in the third quarter.

SeaChange Q3 Revenue up 9%

SeaChange International, Inc. (NASDAQ: SEAC), a leading global multi-screen video software company, announced financial results for its fiscal 2012 third quarter ended October 31, 2011. Total revenues for the quarter were $53.4 million, which were $4.2 million or 9% higher than total revenues of $49.1 million for the third quarter of fiscal 2011. Non-GAAP net income for this year’s third quarter was $4.1 million, or $0.13 per share, compared with non-GAAP net income of $1.5 million or $0.05 per share, for the same period last year. GAAP net income for the third quarter of fiscal 2012 was $0.4 million or $0.01 per share compared with a GAAP net loss of $5.2 million or $0.17 per share for the third quarter of fiscal 2011. Last year’s third quarter GAAP net loss included a $2.4 million restructuring charge.

Blackmagic Design Acquires Teranex

Blackmagic Design has acquired Teranex Systems Inc. from Jupiter Systems, a Hayward, Calif.-based developer of display wall processors. Teranex is a developer of high performance video processing products for the post production and broadcast industries. Teranex, headquartered in Orlando, Fla., is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Blackmagic Design. This is the third time Teranex has changed hands since its launch in 1998. Price was not disclosed.
